Welcome to Off The Grain!
My name is Kerri, (that’s me, on the left with my adorable Mom) and I have suffered from allergies in various forms my entire life. My story hasn’t always been fun, but it’s been real and it has lead me to live a grain-free lifestyle. As a child I had chronic ear infections and migraines and as an adult I have on-again/off-again chronic hives and silent migraine enduced blind spells. My strive for an allergy friendly life has taken me to live grain free and sugar free.
The pain I have endured over many years from my allergies has given me the strength and determination to cleanse and heal my body to reverse my allergies. I am not only a follower of a grain free diet, but I also follow the GAPS diet. This diet aims to heal the body through bone broth and fermented foods, it is what is keeping my allergies at bay.
When I first pledged to give up sugar and grain I was excited yet petrified. What was I going to eat? Was I ever going to be able to have desserts or muffins again? I soon found that through a little bit of research and a bit of pantry cleaning, living this way can be as easy and fun! I now eat so a ton of delicious, nutrient dense foods that leave me wanting more!
What makes me different? I am huge believer in the famous saying “let food be thy medicine”. I believe our bodies can heal, and want to heal, and with a little bit of patience and determination, chronic conditions can be a thing of the past.
